Ed and Patti Barger
Ed and Patti Barger
Ed Barger and his wife Patti are the owner operators of Vintage Hill Farms with over 200 acres of Concord and Niagara grapes in Westfield and Ripley, New York. They are active members of Grower's Co-Operative and have a full schedule with the farm, children and other activities.
Ed is a third generation grape farmer. He was raised in Ripley and has been a part of the Westfield community for the last 16 years. He graduated from Ripley Central School, attended Jamestown Community College, and went to school in New York City for theatrical arts. But he could not get away from that love of western New York and tilling the soil. He came back to this area in 1979 to try his hand with the family business of grape farming and has done well with it over the years. He served on numerous Cornell Cooperative committees. Ed has been a member of Grower's Co-Operative for 27 years and has served two terms as a Board of Director member and is presently the Board Vice President.
Ed married Patricia Bowen who is a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School, SUNY Fredonia with a degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education and has been a substitute teacher for Ripley Central School the last 12 years. She is also very active working on the farm when she is not busy with their daughters.
Ed and Patti have two daughters Hillary and Laura; both are graduates of Westfield Academy and Central School. Hillary attends Jamestown Community College and will be transferring to another school for a degree in speech pathology and education. Laura attended Jamestown Community College and is presently attending Toni and Guy Institute in Erie, Pennsylvania for cosmetology and business management.
Ed and Patti are very busy with their farm and family but they always seem to find time to help Grower's Co-Op promote the benefits of drinking Concord grape juice at the shows and fairs locally and at shows out of the area.
So say hi to Ed and Patti when you find them on their farm or at a show.
